Curated Playlists
Curation is a not-so-lost art form. That’s where you find the intentionality in what humans do. A teacher curating a curriculum. A shop owner curating how their space is experienced. A gallery owner deciding what art will be on display. Or a DJ curating a playlist.
Over the last year or so, I’ve been searching YouTube for DJ sets and old radio shows featuring all types of music. I love finding music this way because there’s another human on the other end curating what I’m going to discover.
One of those discoveries has been The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show, which aired on Columbia University’s WKCR 89.9 FM in New York City in the 90s. I didn’t grow up listening to the show, but thanks to the internet, I get to experience it now as a 41-year-old hip-hop head.
These are 30-year-old radio shows that are completely brand new to me.
So I figured I’d start sharing some of them here.
